#4: Life in the Garden

Genesis 2:4-17

As the creation story zooms in on our first parents, we meet Adam and learn fundamental truths about what it means to be human. Made of dirt and divine breath, Adam is placed in a garden paradise with an incredible responsibility. At the center of this whole story is two trees, which present Adam with a choice: will he rule by trusting God’s definition of good and evil or will he seek to define good and evil on our own terms? Though we have all, like Adam, chosen the latter (bringing death into God’s good world), Jesus has made a way for us to choose life again.
